Dr. Doty is a clinical professor of neurosurgery at Stanford University’s School of Medicine, and the founder of Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education at Stanford, of which His Holiness the Dalai Lama is the founding benefactor. He works with scientists from a number of disciplines to examine the neural bases for compassion and altruism.
Throughout his luminous life and career, Dr. Doty has continued to wear many hats: he is an inventor and holds multiple patents; a successful entrepreneur and former CEO of Accuray; an advisor to leading medical device companies and corporations including Apple, Google, and Microsoft; a philanthropist, serves on the board of a number of nonprofits, has supported several charitable organizations in peace and healthcare initiatives, and provided scholarships and held chairs at multiple universities.
Dr. Doty is also the author of Into the Magic Shop, a New York Times and international bestseller, that has been translated into over 30 languages.
